Welcome to our EMT “Challenge-Out” refresher course, an engaging and comprehensive program designed to revitalize your skills and knowledge as an experienced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Led by seasoned instructors, this course combines interactive online lectures and immersive practical challenges to ensure you remain at the forefront of pre-hospital emergency care. Join us as we reignite your passion and empower you to deliver exceptional care during critical moments.

Key Features:

  1. Instructor-Led Online Lectures:
    • Written Challenge Exam: There are nine topics included in the Written Challenge Exam:
      • Preparatory
      • Airway
      • Patient Assessment
      • Medical 1
      • Medical 2
      • Trauma
      • Pediatrics
      • OBGYN
      • Operations

To exempt yourself from attending the lectures for each topic, you must complete the online written challenge exam before the course starts and achieve a score of 80% or higher for each topic. For example: If you obtain an 80% for all sections except the Operations section, you would need to attend the Operations lecture.

    • Engage in live online lectures via Google Meets with our seasoned instructors, who bring a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience to the virtual classroom.
    • Delve into advanced topics, including cutting-edge treatment modalities, updated protocols, emerging technologies, and evidence-based practices.
  1. Immersive Practical Challenges:
    • Practical Challenge Exam:  On the day of the Practical Challenge Exam, there are six stations:
      • Station 1: Patient Assessment Medical
      • Station 2: Patient Assessment Trauma
      • Station 3: Cardiac Arrest AED
      • Station 4: BVM Apneic w/ Pulse
      • Station 5: Random
        • 5A: Upper Airway Adjuncts & Suction
        • 5B: Supplemental Oxygen Administration
        • 5C: Bleeding Control/Shock Management
      • Station 6: Random
        • 6A: Immobilization Skills Long Bone Injury
        • 6B: Immobilization Skills Joint Injury
        • 6C: Immobilization Skills Traction Splinting

To exempt yourself from attending each lab session, you must successfully pass all six stations during the Practical Challenge Exam, which is conducted at the beginning of the course. For example: If you fail Station 1: Patient Assessment Medical and Station 3: Cardiac Arrest AED, you will need to attend those sessions and retake those stations at the end of the course as part of the NYS Practical Skills Exam.

    • Embark on a hands-on practical challenge session at the beginning of the course, guided by our experienced instructors
    • Demonstrate your proficiency in essential EMT skills, such as patient assessment, trauma care, airway management, and medical interventions
  1. Comprehensive Content Review:
    • Refresh and deepen your understanding of critical EMT concepts, from anatomy and physiology to medical emergencies, trauma management, pharmacology, and more
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest guidelines, protocols, and industry advancements, ensuring your knowledge aligns with current best practices
    • Engage in interactive case discussions, scenario-based exercises, and critical thinking challenges to sharpen your problem-solving skills
