Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

Our goal is to provide comprehensive training in first aid techniques, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively in a wide range of emergency situations. Here is an overview of our First Aid course curriculum:

Introduction to First Aid CPR AED:

  • Understanding the importance of first aid in saving lives and preventing further injury or illness
  • Recognizing the legal and ethical considerations related to providing first aid

Assessing the Scene and Ensuring Safety:

  • Learning how to assess the scene of an emergency, including potential hazards and ensuring personal safety
  • Implementing appropriate infection control measures to minimize the risk of disease transmission

Basic Life Support (BLS):

  • Providing instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for adults, children, and infants.
  • Understanding the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in cardiac emergencies.

Airway Management and Breathing:

  • Identifying and managing airway obstructions, including techniques for clearing a blocked airway
  • Demonstrating proper ventilation techniques, such as rescue breathing and the use of bag-mask devices

Control of Bleeding and Wound Care:

  • Understanding different types of wounds and their appropriate management
  • Learning techniques for controlling bleeding, applying pressure dressings, and using tourniquets when necessary

Medical Emergencies:

  • Recognizing and responding to common medical emergencies, such as heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and diabetic emergencies
  • Providing appropriate first aid interventions while waiting for medical professionals to arrive

Musculoskeletal Injuries:

  • Identifying and managing fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations
  • Learning proper splinting techniques to immobilize injured limbs

Environmental Emergencies:

  • Understanding how to respond to heat-related illnesses, cold-related emergencies, and allergic reactions
  • Providing first aid for burns, electrical shocks, and chemical exposures

Special Populations:

  • Addressing the unique considerations and first aid needs for infants, children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities
  • Recognizing signs of child abuse and neglect and understanding reporting procedures

First Aid Kit and Emergency Preparedness:

  • Exploring the essential components of a well-stocked first aid kit
  • Discussing strategies for emergency preparedness and response planning

Our First Aid course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice and scenario-based training to ensure participants gain practical skills and confidence in applying first aid techniques. Our experienced instructors, certified by the American Heart Association (AHA), provide engaging and interactive learning experiences to maximize knowledge retention.
